Could you spare just an hour a week to make a real difference in someone’s life?
Blind Veterans UK is looking for a compassionate and friendly volunteer to visit one of our veterans living in Broxburn. Many of our veterans are unable to travel to our centres and can feel isolated — that’s where you come in.
As a Home Visitor, you’ll provide invaluable companionship through regular weekly or fortnightly visits. Sometimes that might mean chatting over a cuppa, other times a short stroll in the fresh air. You won’t be asked to provide any personal care — just your time, a warm presence, and a good sense of humour.
You’ll be fully supported in your role, with training, guidance, and a dedicated manager just a phone call away. You’ll also be part of a wider network of volunteers.
What we’re looking for:
-
A friendly and patient approach
-
Empathy and strong listening skills
-
Reliability and punctuality
-
Respect for confidentiality and boundaries
-
The ability to work independently
Volunteers must be aged 18 or over. This flexible role can fit around your existing commitments and offers the chance to make a real impact in your local community.
Ready to brighten someone’s week? Join us and help ensure no blind veteran feels alone.
