The National Churches Trust, the UK’s independent charity dedicated to preserving and supporting historic, architecturally significant, and community-valued church buildings, has announced its Large Grant Programme for 2025.

This programme provides crucial funding for major, urgent structural repair projects and the installation of essential facilities such as kitchens and accessible toilets. The Trust prioritises projects that showcase robust, forward-thinking plans for the building, demonstrating strong community support and long-term sustainability.

Grant Details:

  • Grant Size: Up to £50,000*
  • Works Cost: Over £80,000 for urgent repairs; over £30,000 for facility installations.
    • Please note that grants in the £40,000 to £50,000 range are exceptionally limited and reserved for projects with a compelling case for investment.

Eligibility:

Places of worship of any Christian denomination and age across the United Kingdom are eligible to apply. Both listed and unlisted buildings will be considered.

The application process commences with an online eligibility quiz, accessible via the National Churches Trust website. Interested applicants are advised to complete the quiz to determine their eligibility before proceeding with a full application.

Application Deadline:

The deadline for applications is Tuesday, 1st July 2025.
